The Friends of the English School
The Friends of the English School, or just the Friends, is a parents’ association for the families of the students at the English school. The activities include traditional bazaars at Christmas and Easter as well as other happenings. The funds collected by the Friends are directed entirely back to the school to benefit the students in various ways.
During the last school year 2008/2009, the funds collected by the Friends of the English School were used to benefit the afternoon club, the chess club, and the woodwork club. Geography, visual arts, science, and music classrooms received new teaching aids. Middle school and High school received English literature, and scholarships were given out to students.
The Friends provide a valuable service to the school, and all the funds are directed to projects that the parents, the principal, and the teachers deem important.
It is essential to have all families participating in the Friends also in the form of the yearly membership fees. This year, the fee is 20 Euros per member and 50 Euros for support members. Grandparents or godparents can join as support members.
