The Cambridge International Primary Programme

Last year marked the successful introduction of the Cambridge International Primary Programme for elementary students at The English School. The course is a framework designed to promote the skills and knowledge in three subjects: Mathematics, English and Science. The course is designed to complement the Finnish curriculum and culminates in the Primary Achievement Tests in Grade 5 during the Spring Term.

The Cambridge international exams, begun by the University of Cambridge in England, are one of the most popular international exams worldwide. It is one of the largest aids in identifying a student’s strengths and weaknesses and can be used to support learning and development. The Primary Programme progresses students seamlessly into middle years curricula, such as the IGCSE exams in Grade 9. Beyond that there are also many opportunities such as the International A and AS Level courses. Where necessary students will be provided with additional lesson instruction to help prepare them for the test.
